The Houston Texans finally have their first victory of the 2026 NFL season, and they made a statement doing it.

Behind an outstanding defensive performance, efficient quarterback play from C.J. Stroud, and a flawless kicking performance from Ka'imi Fairbairn, Houston cruised to a convincing 26-3 victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday afternoon at Nissan Stadium.

The victory snapped Houston's four-game losing streak and improved the Texans to 1-4, while Tennessee dropped to 0-5 after another frustrating offensive performance.

For head coach DeMeco Ryans and his Texans, Sunday's victory represented a much-needed opportunity to regain confidence and potentially turn their season around.

C.J. Stroud Leads Houston's Offensive Breakthrough

Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud delivered a composed and efficient performance, completing 26 of 34 passes for approximately 260 yards, one passing touchdown, and no interceptions.

Stroud also contributed with his legs, scoring on a two-yard touchdown run during the third quarter.

Although Houston initially struggled to finish drives in the end zone, Stroud consistently moved the offense downfield and avoided costly mistakes.

The Texans entered halftime holding a 12-3 advantage, with all 12 points coming from Fairbairn field goals.

Houston finally broke through offensively during the third quarter when Stroud capped a 17-play drive with his two-yard touchdown run, extending the lead to 19-3.

Early in the fourth quarter, Stroud connected with wide receiver Jaylin Noel for a nine-yard touchdown, putting the game firmly out of Tennessee's reach.

The performance continued Stroud's impressive streak of protecting the football. Through five games this season, the Houston quarterback has thrown six touchdown passes without an interception.
