Stars defeat the Ducks 3-2

Tied in the third period, Dallas held off going into overtime with a goal by Miro Heiskanen at the 13-minute mark in the period, which proved to be the game winning goal.

It is very young in the season, but Stars' coach Peter DeBoer wanted to send a message to his guys that they HAD to win this game “It was important to win, that’s the bottom line,” Stars coach Peter DeBoer said. “It’s early in the season, and it’s not all going to look great. You have to give them credit, they were ready to play. The scouting report on them is they’re playing really hard and they’re putting a lot of pressure on, and they did exactly that in the first period. I wish we would’ve handled it better.”

The players were empowered by their coaches' message and went out there and played up to their potential. Jake Oettinger was a menace as he had 29 saves in the victory. This is the type of defense that Dallas wanted from their star. Moving forward it will be very interesting to see if this team can put both the offense and defense together to be a force. Again, it is very early in the season to hit any type of panic button.
