The NCAA Tournament on the women's side, concluded with a head-to-head matchup between South Carolina and UCLA. For majority of the first half, the Gamecocks were trying to dig themselves out of a double-digit hole. They had trouble with Lauren Betts in the first few minutes of the game, before Betts left the game with an apparent throat injury. After the first quarter, Staley was asked what her team could do better to spark some type of jolt in her offense.

Coach Staley stated that she was looking for the right combination of players to match up with UCLA. They needed to use their speed to create some shots in the front court and lastly that they needed to find the right personnel to settle in.

Tessa Johnson provided an immediate jolt for the Gamecocks as she came off the bench and hit a couple of crucial shots with cutting UCLA's lead down. However, UCLA was making everything and was shooting around 47% as a team

South Carolina tried to do whatever they needed to get back into the game, in the second half but UCLA's Bigs were just too much. UCLA controlled the pace of the game and did not let Raven Johnson impact the game. UCLA went onto win

Johnson finished with three points.
