Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese scored 23 points and grabbed 13 rebounds on Monday night, while Allisha Gray added 20 points to lead the Dream to a 101-92 victory over Los Angeles Sparks.
In the fourth quarter, Gray made Atlanta's first field goal of the quarter to tie it at 87. Then, Reese got a friendly roll on her third 3-pointer of the season to make it 90-87 and added two free throws on the next possession for a five-point lead. Jordin Canada capped the 9-0 run for a 94-87 lead.
Rhyne Howard added 11 points and Canada added 16 for Atlanta (14-10), which had lost six of its last seven games. Despite missing Saturday's game against Portland, Reese shot 7 of 11 from the field and made all eight of her free throws.
Los Angeles (10-12) was led by Erica Wheeler with 20 points, Nneka Ogwumike with 19 and Rae Burrell with 18. A left ankle injury forced Cameron Brink to miss her eighth straight game. Kelsey Plum missed her sixth straight game due to a lower left leg injury.
Reese's performance was pivotal in securing the victory for Atlanta, as her scoring efficiency and clutch plays in the fourth quarter provided the necessary momentum to overcome the Sparks. Her ability to convert crucial free throws and hit a timely 3-pointer under pressure showcased her composure and leadership on the court. With her double-double performance, Reese demonstrated her value to the team, especially after a challenging stretch of games.
