The LSU women’s basketball team opened its 2026-27 campaign in spectacular fashion Thursday night, overwhelming UNT Dallas, 159-31, in an exhibition matchup at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
The No. 9 Tigers delivered an explosive offensive performance, showcasing their depth, speed and ability to create scoring opportunities. LSU’s commanding victory provided an early glimpse of the team’s potential as head coach Kim Mulkey prepares for her sixth season leading the program.

Milaysia Fulwiley led the way with a standout performance, recording 32 points and 17 assists. Her scoring ability and playmaking helped fuel an offensive attack that kept UNT Dallas under constant pressure. ZaKiyah Johnson also made a significant impact, collecting 10 rebounds to lead LSU on the glass.
The Tigers’ balanced attack and relentless pace overwhelmed their opponents throughout the contest. LSU’s ability to generate points while controlling the boards highlighted the team’s versatility and depth entering the new season.
Although exhibition games do not count toward the regular-season record, the performance offered valuable preparation for a team with high expectations. The coaching staff will look to build on the energy and execution while continuing to refine rotations and defensive consistency ahead of more challenging competition.
LSU will return to the court next Thursday, Oct. 29, for its final exhibition against Loyola New Orleans at the Maravich Assembly Center. The Tigers will then open their regular season on Nov. 2 against Southeastern Louisiana.
With an emphatic opening performance, LSU has given its fans plenty of reasons to be excited about the season ahead.
