Inter Miami drops a much needed game to Nashville Sc 5-1

Inter Miami playoff chances were pushed back once again after falling short 5-1 to Nashville SC in very wet conditions.

Nashville’s five goals of the match were scored by Hany Mukhtar at the match’s 6-minute mark and 48-minute mark, Walker Zimmerman in the 39th minute of the first half, Randall Leal in the 70th, and Alistar Johnston topped off the night in extra time with the games final tally.

Miami’s lone goal was scored by Gonzalo Higuain in the 64th minute of play. Despite 9 shots and 1 goal, Nashville keeper Joe Willis managed to only let one goal past him in what looked like a goaltending clinic.

Shortly after Miami’s goal, things got chippy between both clubs, and Nashville’s leading scorer on the night Hany Mukhtar walked away with a yellow card. Discipline was also an issue for Miami’s Gregore as he was sent off during tonight’s match after receiving a yellow and red card.

Inter Miami’s 2nd consecutive loss can be attributed to the absence of their top two defenders Nico Figal and Leandro Gonzalez Pirez. Giving up 9 goals in the past two games is an eyesore for any soccer team, on any level of play.

Head Coach Phil Neville couldn’t shy away from the defensive mishaps in the post-game press conference. “We’re hiding behind excuses of basic defending and I have to take responsibility for that”

With their playoff chances diminishing, their next match on Wednesday against former MLS MVP Josef Martinez and the Atlanta United FC is a must-win
