Injuries have hit the Washington Football Team

The Washington Football Team escaped with a win in Atlanta but couldn’t escape the injury bug that bit them on Sunday against the Falcons.

Head coach Ron Rivera announced at his Monday press conference that he expects Pro Bowl right guard Brandon Scherff and standout tight end Logan Thomas to miss some time.He also announced that linebacker Jon Bostic is likely out for the season with a pectoral injury and that cornerback Torry McTyer is definitely out for the year after tearing his ACL.

Scherff exited the Atlanta game after hurting his knee. Thomas left the game due to a hamstring injury. Indications are that Scherff could miss as much as three weeks with what is being reported as a sprained MCL.Wes Schweitzer took over for Scherff on Sunday in Atlanta, while veteran Ricky Seals-Jones and young talent like John Bates and Sammis Reyes, are the other tight ends that Washington can bring into the fold. Players like Khaleke Hudson, Jamin Davis, and David Mayo will get more reps with Bostic out.

Bostic started the first four games of the season for Washington. He had 22 tackles, including six in his 33 defensive snaps against the Falcons. Cole Holcomb started at linebacker with Bostic on Sunday and first-round pick Jamin Davis is likely in line for more snaps with Bostic out.

McTyer had two passes defensed while playing 29 defensive snaps on Sunday. He’d only played 13 defensive snaps in the first three weeks of the season.

The Football Team will take on the New Orleans Saints this Sunday.
