Caitlyn Jenner is serious about running for Governor of California

Caitlyn Jenner held her first news conference Friday as a Republican candidate for California governor. She is entering in a recall election that could remove first term Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom. The press conference was held 77 days after Jenner announced she will be running for the candidacy.

Jenner met with reporters around 15 minutes and confirmed that she is serious about the race to be governor and believes she is leading as an Republican candidate. There has been no polling to confirm her claims.

Jenner, who won the Olympic decathlon in 1976 and then decades later went on to become a reality TV star stated that she is better known than any other GOP candidate and even Newsom, who has been in office more than two years.

“I have a tremendous advantage, obviously, because of name recognition," Jenner said. “To be honest with you, I've been in a lot of races in my life, and I know how to win. I just keeping working hard" said Jenner.

Jenner said she would spend the final month of the campaign on a bus tour of the state. She also said she would release her tax returns next week. She also made clear that she does not want an endorsement from Trump even though having supported him in 2016.
