After defeating the Jags last week, the Bills were focused with taking down the Broncos and returning back to the AFC Championship. One of the key factors with coming ito the game for Buffalo was the health of Josh Allen. Allen had gotten beaten and banged up with different injuries in the victory over Jacksonville, so a lot of fans were curious to see how he would come out and play. Allen stated prior to the game that if everything was hurting than nothing will be hurting. Which meant, no pain no gain, with a chance to return back to the AFC Championship.
On the Bills opening possession, Allen marched his team down the field on a 12 play 68 yards, which ended in a touchdown pass to Mecole Hardman to take their first lead of the day. 7-3. It looked like Allen was grinding through those injuries, which seemed like it had no effect with him making plays in the first half. At one point in the game, Allen ran for 26-yards, so that run silenced everyone about his ankle injury. Now, er can praise Allen, but Cook was out here cooking on the field. He was gashing the Broncos for six yards per carry and finished the half with 10 touches for 57-yards.
Despite all the good tangibles within this game, Buffalo turned the ball over twice, which helped Denver extend their lead to 10 at the half, 20-10.
Coming out of the Locker room, Sean McDermott wanted his team to protect the ball and not turn it over and wanted to contain Bo Nix from getting outside of the pocket and using his legs to beat them. McDermott must have been shaking his head because the Bills' opening drive in the second half resulted in a turnover. Allen's offensive line did not hold their water and allowed a hit on Allen's hand, which caused a fumble. Denver jumped on it and four plays later; they tacked on a field goal to extend their lead 23-10.
With their backs against the wall, Buffalo needed to find some type of positive spark before the game got away from them. They went back to Cook, and he was the work horse that helped Buffalo get into the redzone, a few plays later, Allen hit Keon Coleman for a 10-yard td to cut the Broncos' lead to six.
Let's head to the fourth quarter.
Buffalo had got in a groove as Allen and Khali Shakir hooked up for a 25-yard catch and run at the start of the fourth to put them in the redzone. A few plays later, the Bills capped off the drive with a touchdown to retake the lead 24-23. Just like a couple weeks ago, Buffalo had come back from the dead to put everyone on their edges of their seats.
With under five minutes left in regulation, Buffalo tacked on a field goal to potentially ice the game. All they needed to do was stop Denver from getting a touchdown and they would get the win. Buffalo decided to take the risk and put some pressure on Nix, but that did not work. Nix hit Marvin Mims for a 155-yard td to retake the lead. After Denver scored, there were .55 ticks left on the clock for Buffalo to tie up the game and send the game in OT. McDermott called the right play on a second and short to do a hook and ladder for a 27-yard scamper. That play put Buffalo in field goal range. Matt Prater sent the game in OT with a 50-yard boot.
After Denver had a three and out, Buffalo had to go the length of the field for a potential score and advance to the AFC Championship round. Allen attempted to throw a 40-yard bomb to Brandon Cooks, but Ja'Quan McMillian took the ball from Cooks. Denver went down the field and went onto kick a field goal to send Buffalo home. Allen finished 25/39 for 283 yards and 3 touchdowns and 2 picks

Josh Allen showed real grit despite injuries, but those turnovers really cost Buffalo in such a close game. Tough loss for them. heartopia game
