The United Football League held its two-day 2026 UFL Draft today at their headquarters in Arlington, Texas, with Day Two dedicated to free agent selection. On Day Two, teams had the opportunity to add veteran players and unselected talent from across professional and collegiate football, who were not under contract with another league. Day Two of the draft saw 214 players selected across the league. Similarly to the first day of the UFL Draft, the second day was structured into positional groups with offensive front, defensive front, offensive skills positions, defensive backs, and specialists, as well as open selections. When a free agent signs with a UFL team, the team retains exclusive rights to that player once he reports to the team. A few former NFL players will suit up for a few teams, including Justyn Ross, Laviska Shenault Jr., Rodrigo Blakenship, Isiah Spiller, Lewis Cine, Lynn Bowden Jr., Irv Smith, Earl Bostick Jr., and many more.
Having former NFL players in the UFL brings a wealth of experience and talent to the league, which can elevate the level of play and competitiveness. These players often serve as mentors to younger athletes, sharing insights and strategies that can enhance team dynamics and performance. Additionally, their presence can attract more fans and media attention, increasing the league's visibility and popularity.
The United Football League (UFL) is the premier professional spring football league, powered by the visionary leadership and investment of Mike Repole, Impact Capital, RedBird Capital Partners, FOX, Dany Garcia, and Dwayne Johnson. Both players and fans enjoy the most engaging professional football experience in the world thanks to the UFL's innovation, accessibility, and competitive excellence. The league features eight teams: the Birmingham Stallions, Columbus Aviators, Dallas Renegades, DC Defenders, Houston Gamblers, Louisville Kings, Orlando Storm, and St. Louis Battlehawks. The 2026 season kicks off on Friday, March 27.
