The Los Angeles Rams saw their six-game winning streak come to an end Sunday afternoon, falling 31–28 to the Carolina Panthers in a hard-fought road matchup. It was a tight contest throughout, but a few costly mistakes and defensive struggles ultimately proved to be the difference.
Matthew Stafford, who had been remarkably clean with the football during the Rams’ recent surge, finally ran into turnover trouble. He threw two interceptions in today’s game — his first in several weeks — which stalled key drives and shifted momentum toward Carolina. Still, Stafford delivered strong moments, continuing his impressive chemistry with Davante Adams as the duo extended their streak of multi-touchdown performances.
Defensively, the Rams couldn’t find the timely stops that had fueled their winning streak. Carolina controlled the run game from the outset, racking up 164 rushing yards and consistently setting up favorable down-and-distance situations. Panthers quarterback Bryce Young capitalized, throwing three touchdowns and showing poise in one of his best outings of the season.
The Panthers have been solid at home all year, and it showed again as they matched the Rams’ intensity and executed when it mattered most. Despite a late push from Los Angeles, the defense couldn’t get the final stop needed to give Stafford another chance at a comeback.
With the streak now snapped, the Rams will look to regroup quickly. They turn their focus to a crucial divisional matchup next Sunday in Arizona, where they’ll face the Cardinals as they aim to regain the NFC’s top seed and get back on track.
