The Lakers could not stop Dame Time, as they fall to Portland, 100-93
Orlando- The Los Angeles Lakers come up short in a loss to the Portland Trailblazers, 100-93.
With under a minute left in regulation, down by four, the Lakers desperately needed a defensive stop in order to set themselves up to potentially cut the lead down. However, Gary Trent Jr. sent the Lakers packing with a loss, as he shot a three to extend the lead. Despite a history-making performance by LeBron James, the Lakers' second unit could not knock down wide-open shots and went 5 of 25 from the field.
James was sensational as he became the first player in NBA history to record 20+ points, 15+ assists, and 15+ rebounds in a playoff game. Outside of Anthony Davis, who had 28 points, 1 assist, and 11 rebounds and Kyle Kuzma who had 14 points, the Lakers struggled offensively. The Lakers went 5 out of 32 from the three-point strike and shot around 35% as a team.
The Trailblazers held down the fort and their starters shined as they took game one of the series. Damian Lillard finished the game with 34 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds.
