Sun survives Game 1 in a thriller 73-70
Man, I think we are setting up for a classic back-and-forth in this series. Both teams are well balanced on both sides of the ball and play with a serious chip on their shoulders.
The team was led by Marina Mabrey with 20 points while Alyssa Thomas had 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists. Amongst the Sun's players, DiJonai Carrington had 13 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 steals, and DeWanna Bonner had 10 points and 11 rebounds. It has been Carrington's role as swiss army knife for the Sun this season that has been tremendous
In the first round of the playoffs, Napheesa Collier averaged a whopping 40 points per game. She led the Minnesota Lynx in this game with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Bridget Carleton scored 17 and Kayla McBride added 12. There was no sign of Courtney Williams being a factor in this game, but I do not expect that to last for long.
For game 2, the Lynx might look to tighten up their defense on Marina Mabrey, who was a key offensive threat in game 1. They could also focus on limiting Alyssa Thomas's playmaking ability to prevent her from setting up teammates. On the other hand, the Sun will need to find ways to contain Napheesa Collier and prevent her from dominating the scoreboard as she has throughout the playoffs.
Game 2 of the best-of-5 series will be played Tuesday in Minneapolis
