Rams stunned by Falcons

The Los Angeles Rams’ comeback attempt fell just short Monday night, as they lost 27–24 to the Atlanta Falcons after trailing 21–0 early. For the second consecutive week, the Rams suffered a heartbreaking defeat with the NFC’s No. 1 seed on the line, and that goal has now officially slipped away. With two weeks remaining before the postseason, Los Angeles is now locked into either the fifth or sixth seed when the playoffs begin.
Unlike last week’s loss, which unraveled late, this game was defined by a rough start. Matthew Stafford had an uncharacteristically difficult night, throwing three interceptions. One of those was returned for a touchdown, a costly mistake that tied Stafford with Brett Favre for the most pick-sixes thrown in NFL history. Despite the turnovers, Stafford and the offense showed resilience, battling back and giving themselves a chance late in the game.
However, the biggest storyline of the night was the Rams’ defense struggling to contain Falcon's star running back Bijan Robinson. Robinson put together a performance for the ages, rushing for 194 yards. The highlight came on a blazing 93-yard touchdown run, the longest of his career at any level, both professional and collegiate. Time and time again, Atlanta leaned on Robinson, and the Rams had no answer.
Even with the odds stacked against them, the Rams continued to fight. The play of the game came when Jared Verse blocked a Falcons field goal attempt and returned it 76 yards for a touchdown, cutting the lead to seven. That moment sparked belief and kept the Rams within striking distance deep into the fourth quarter.
Now, the Rams must regroup after two tough losses. They’ll close out the regular season at home against the Arizona Cardinals, a perfect opportunity to reset, build momentum, and prepare for a playoff run that will still make them a dangerous opponent.
