Rams open season opener with a disappointing loss to the 49ers 27-7

The Los Angeles Rams opened the regular season with a performance highlighted by a productive rushing attack, another strong outing from Puka Nacua and a defense that generated impact plays against the San Francisco 49ers.

Quarterback Matthew Stafford completed 15 of 25 passes for 155 yards, while the Rams leaned heavily on their running backs to move the offense.

Blake Corum led Los Angeles on the ground, rushing 10 times for 54 yards and averaging 5.4 yards per carry. Corum was particularly effective during the first half, producing 42 yards on six attempts for an average of 7.0 yards per carry.

The performance also pushed Corum past a career milestone, giving him 1,007 rushing yards.

Kyren Williams added 41 yards on 11 carries and scored the Rams' lone rushing touchdown. Williams also contributed through the passing game with three receptions for 24 yards.

The touchdown continued Williams' climb through the Rams' record book. He moved past Dan Towler and into a tie with Jack Snow for 10th in franchise history with 45 scrimmage touchdowns.

Williams has also been particularly productive against San Francisco. His latest score gave him 10 scrimmage touchdowns against the 49ers since 2023, tying Christian McCaffrey's total against Arizona for the most by a player against a single opponent during that span.

Nacua Continues Impressive Receiving Streak

Puka Nacua once again served as Stafford's leading target, finishing with five receptions for 74 yards and averaging 14.8 yards per catch.Nacua extended the NFL's longest active streak of regular-season games with at least five receptions to 11. When including the 2025 playoffs, he has reached the five-catch mark in 14 consecutive games.

The Rams receiver also recorded his eighth career reception of at least 40 yards, joining Torry Holt, Cooper Kupp, Isaac Bruce and Kenny Britt among Rams players with at least eight such catches this century.

Nacua added two receptions of at least 20 yards, bringing his career total to 65 such plays. That ties Justin Jefferson for the most in the NFL since Nacua entered the league in 2023.

Quentin Lake Leads Rams Defense. Safety Quentin Lake delivered one of the strongest performances of the game for Los Angeles.Lake recorded a team-high 10 tackles, including seven solo stops, while adding three passes defended and an interception. His interception came on San Francisco's opening possession of the second quarter and marked the second pick of his career.

Lake also became the seventh Rams safety this century to record an interception in his first game of a season.Linebacker Nate Landman finished with eight tackles, five of them solo, along with a quarterback hit and a pass defended.

Defensive end Tyler Davis established a new single-game career high with seven combined tackles.Cornerback Trent McDuffie added four solo tackles, two passes defended and a tackle for loss while reaching 250 combined tackles for his career.
