The L.A. Rams escaped Chicago with an instant classic, defeating the Bears 20–17 in overtime to punch their ticket to the NFC Championship Game. With the win, the Rams now head to Seattle next Sunday for a high-stakes showdown against their division rivals, the Seahawks, with a trip to Super Bowl LX on the line.
Kicker Harrison Mevis was the hero, drilling the game-winning field goal with 3:19 remaining in overtime. The kick was set up by a soul-crushing interception from Kam Curl, silencing a hostile Soldier Field crowd that had been buzzing moments earlier. Chicago had just forced overtime in dramatic fashion, as Caleb Williams connected with Cole Kmet on a ‘miraculous’, season-saving touchdown plays completing a 14-yard pass with 18 seconds remaining.
The Bears’ late rally made for a tense finish, but the Rams stayed composed when it mattered most. Curl’s clutch takeaway flipped the momentum for good, allowing the offense to set up Mevis for the decisive kick and cap off a thrilling road victory.
Now, all eyes turn to a familiar foe. The Rams and Seahawks split their two regular-season meetings, with both games decided by a single score. Los Angeles took the first matchup in October, winning 21–19, while Seattle answered with a dramatic 38–37 victory on Thursday Night Football last month—a win that ultimately helped them steal the division.
With both teams knowing each other inside and out, the margin for error will be razor-thin once again. You truly couldn’t ask for a better matchup to decide who will represent the NFC in Super Bowl LX.
