Raiders get a W without their star players
It's crazy how things can change after a week. One week ago Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce called out his team for a lack of effort. Said some guys made “business decisions” after a week of soul searching the Raiders got back in the win column after an impressive home win vs the Cleveland Browns 20-16.
What made the win ever so impressive was the Raiders were without their two best players Maxx Crosby and Davante Adams. Coming into the game both teams were banged up. The Browns had a depleted offensive and defensive lines. Raiders firmly took advantage of the injuries as they were able to control the line of scrimmage and string together their best day on the ground all season going for 153 yards. Alexander Mattison had 60 yards on five carries. Zamir White had 50 on 17 carries but almost lost the Raiders the game with a huge fumble that the Browns converted into a touchdown. However, the Browns missed the go-ahead extra point which loomed huge.
Without Davante Adams, Gardner Minshew finished 14-of-24 for 130 yards. Jakobi Meyers led the team with five catches for 49 yards. And even though Maxx Crosby didn’t play, the Raiders finished with three sacks and 11 quarterback hits. The Raiders got a much-needed win that extends their record to 2-2. The Browns are now 1-3 and have to dig themselves out of this bad start.
