Brady had a couple of unforced errors that caused her some games early in the set. Osaka was winning 93% of her first serve and relied on her cross shots that kept Brady honest. Brady got herself back in the game by hitting some drop shots, as well as forced Osaka to hit a couple of unforced errors to force a tie break in the first set. Osaka won the first set 7-6.
