LSU vs SC scheduled for Friday

The highly anticipated matchup between No. 2 South Carolina and No. 5 LSU will have to wait until another day. Originally scheduled for Thursday at 8 p.m. Colonial Life Arena, the game will now be played on Friday at 5 p.m. Although ESPN will broadcast the game as planned, it will no longer include "College GameDay."
The game date was moved because of travel issues facing the LSU team. There was up to 10 inches of snow in southern Louisiana Tuesday night and Wednesday. South Carolina has confirmed that all tickets for the matchup will be honored on Friday.
South Carolina typically plays conference games on Thursdays and Sundays. In Dawn Staley's favor, the Gamecocks' next game at Tennessee doesn't occur until Monday, Jan. 27. As a result, the LSU game change should have little impact.
LSU and South Carolina will play each other for the first time since the 2024 SEC Championship game. It was a 79-72 victory for the Gamecocks that day, but the game's final moments saw several players ejected for on-court altercations. Kamilla Cardoso of South Carolina, the entire LSU bench, and everyone on USC's bench minus Sania Feagin and Te-Hina Paopao were ejected for fighting. LSU leads the all-time series vs South Carolina 22-20, but the Gamecocks have won the last 16 matchups against the Tigers.
This matchup is crucial for both South Carolina and LSU as it could significantly impact their standings in the conference. A victory for either team would boost their rankings and morale, setting the tone for the rest of the season. Additionally, this game provides an opportunity for both teams to showcase their skills on a national stage, further solidifying their reputations as top contenders.
