It was an excellent start to their summer for LSU stars Mikaylah Williams and MiLaysia Fulwiley. They helped the Team USA squad to a pair of big victories in 3x3 basketball.
The U.S. won consecutive titles for the first time since joining the Women’s Series circuit in 2019 with Williams and Fulwiley winning a tournament in China last Saturday and another one in the Philippines on Friday.
Williams, a rising senior, led the U.S. in scoring at both tournaments. In China, she scored 38 points over five games, while in the Philippines, she scored 37 points over five games. On Friday, the Bossier City product clinched the title for Team USA when she stepped into a free-throw line jumper to beat Lithuania 17-15 in overtime.
The 3×3 team, which has so far won 11 of the 12 games since it opened the Women's Series on May 1, includes Joyce Edwards of South Carolina and Sahara Williams of Oklahoma.
Fulwiley scored 18 points, grabbed 24 rebounds, and blocked 10 shots in 10 of those matches. There was no player in the Philippines tournament who swatted away more shots than she did.
Williams and Fulwiley will return to LSU for their senior seasons, alongside six returning players and more than five newcomers. The Tigers lost four guards to the transfer portal. Their top addition of the offseason was former Iowa State point guard Jada Williams, one of ESPN's five best transfers.
