LSU gets back to their winning ways

On Thursday night, No. 12 LSU defeated Georgia 80-59, led by 15 points from Flau'jae Johnson and 18 from MiLaysia Fulwiley.

LSU (14-2, 1-2 SEC) began the season 0-2 in conference play for the first time since 2010-11. The Tigers lost their opener to then-No. 11 Kentucky 80-78 on a buzzer-beating 3-pointer by Tonie Morgan on New Year's Day, followed by a 65-61 loss at then-No. 12 Vanderbilt on Sunday.
Dani Carnegie, a Georgia Tech transfer, led the Lady Bulldogs with 24 points. Trinity Turner added 11, and Rylie Theuerkauf contributed seven, but the trio shot just 27% (14 of 51) from the field.
Johnson sparked a 10-1 run with six straight points early in the fourth quarter, extending LSU's lead to 17 with 7:20 remaining.
LSU holds a 29-27 edge in a series dating back to 1982 and has now won eight consecutive games against Georgia.
Johnson reached a milestone in the third quarter, becoming the ninth LSU player to score 1,800 career points with a layup that brought her total to 1,816. Achieving 1,800 career points is a testament to Johnson's consistency and skill on the court. This milestone places her among the elite scorers in LSU's history, highlighting her significant contribution to the team. Her ability to perform at such a high level has been crucial in maintaining LSU's competitive edge in the conference.
Amiyah Joyner recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while ZaKiyah Johnson also scored 12 points for LSU.
