Rams' second half comeback falls short in OT 26-23

ree

Despite being banged up and doubted by many coming into the game, the 49ers showed incredible resilience. Playing without several key starters, they leaned on their depth—and it paid off.

Backup quarterback Mac Jones stepped up in a big way, completing 33 of49 passes for 342 yards and two touchdowns. He looked poised and confident in the pocket, connecting throughout the night with a fellow former Patriot who stepped into the WR1 role. That receiver didn’t disappoint, hauling in 10 catches for 142 yards in a stand outperformance.

The Rams, meanwhile, couldn’t get out of their own way. They were playing from behind for much of the game and squandered multiple scoring opportunities. Costly turnovers, including one deep in 49ersterritory, and another blocked field goal were just some of the

missteps that defined their night. The special team's unit continues to be a liability, with protection breakdowns becoming a recurring issue.

Despite those mistakes, the Rams still managed to push the game to overtime, showing grit of their own. But in the end, it wasn’t enough, as San Francisco marched down the field to seal the win with a walk-off field goal.

In a division as tight and competitive as the NFC West, games like this sting. The Rams will circle their next matchup with the 49ers, a road game in San Francisco next month, as a chance for payback. For now, they’ll need to regroup.

Fortunately, with ten days to rest and recover, they’ll have time to prepare for a tough road test

against the Baltimore Ravens.
