England hangs on to secure a 6-4 victory over France in the third-place play-off

You would think that this game would be pretty intense on both sides of the field, but it was not. The game ended basically ended within 28 minutes in the first half. By the time the whistle blew for halftime, you could tell that the French players were just exhausted and happy to stop the bleeding.

Five minutes later, Barcola scored to cut England's lead 4-2. Whew, if you were a fan or just watching the game, you were on the edge of your seats, because both teams had a combination of six on-goal shots that could change the game in the blink of one's eye.

I do not know what had happened with England, but their confidence started to explode, and doubt started to trickle in. Within the 64th minute, Mbappa scored his second goal of the day to put more pressure on England to hold their water and escape with a victory. France had a couple of chances to tie the game up but mistimed their kicks. Sak and Bellingham a scored the two go-ahead goals to help extend England's lead and escaped with a victory to end their World Cup tournament.

This game was the highest scoring third place tournament in World Cup history.
