Eagles make late push to get the victory over the Commanders 38-31

With Hurts throwing for 319 yards and four touchdowns, two of them to Brown. The defending NFC champions beat the Washington Commanders 38-31 Sunday. By rallying from a double-digit deficit and rallying around their banged-up franchise quarterback, the Eagles improved to 7-1 and showed more evidence of their potential to challenge for the Super Bowl.

Despite playing with a damaged knee, Hurts finished with 29 of 38 passes for 319 yards and 4 touchdowns, including TD throws to DeVonta Smith and Julio Jones. The 7 yards Hurts gained on two rushing attempts before he kneeled twice to end the game was the fewest, he had gained since Dec. 26, 2021. When asked about the knee pain, he simply replied, "He's here".

After the game when asked about Hurt's knee Coach Sirianni said “I know he’s tough, and I’m not going to always know because he’s not going to tell me how he feels because he always wants it on him,” Sirianni said. “That’s what you want from your quarterback, your leader and he played outstanding.”

As a whole, this game was entertaining and had plenty of offense, with both quarterbacks tossing 300 yards each and completing eight touchdown passes combined. The defense on both sides was lackluster, with each team allowing 30 or more points. The teams traded the lead throughout the game, and the game came down to the wire. Ultimately, the team with the better offense won the game.

History was made when Eagles receiver A.J. Brown became the first NFL player to record 125 receiving yards and a touchdown in six consecutive games. He surpasses Detroit Lions legend Hall of Famer Calvin “MEGATRON” Johnson for the mark.
