Eagles lose their regular season game to the Cowboys, but overcame adversity to make a playoff run

After clinching a playoff spot last week, the Eagles decided to rest a lot of their starters, because their last regular season game was not going to matter against Dallas, as far as Playoff seeding was concerned. Gardner Minshew got the nod to start. Philadelphia got the party started with a 25-yard tip pass to DeVonta Smith. A couple plays later, the Eagles ground and pounded the ball in the endzone to take the early lead. Despite being down 10-7, with .42 seconds left in the first quarter, Smith broke the franchise rookie record set by DeSean Jackson.

The rest of the half was a lot Minshew using his legs to create big time plays down the field He finished the half with 106 yards through the air, a touchdown, and 10 yards on the ground. The second unit did a decent job competing with the Cowboys until a minute left in the second quarter. A shank punt and a big play down the field put Dallas in striking distance. Two plays later, the Eagles walked into the half down 30-17.

Philadelphia had to dig themselves out of a two score hole. Minshew and crew had a productive going, but once again dropped balls and a crucial offensive PI call pushed them to attempt a field goal. Jake Elliott knocked the 40-yard field goal through, which made it a 10 point deficit. The confidence booster for Minshew decreased as he watched his defense get torched by the Cowboys. It went from a competitive game into a beat down by Dallas..Philadelphia went onto lose 51-26, but was happy they were in the playoffs.
