Rhyne Howard and Brittney Griner led Atlanta (5-3) with 18 points apiece. Naz Hillmon scored 14 points, and Allisha Gray added 11. Brionna Jones, who made her first appearance at Mohegan Sun Arena after playing for the Sun for eight years, scored seven points and grabbed six rebounds. The Atlanta Dream lost to the Connecticut Sun 84-76.
Marina Mabrey scored a season-high 34 points, and Tina Charles added 19. Mabrey made 13 of 22 field goals, including 3 of 8 three-pointers, and 5 of 6 free throws for her fourth career 30-point game. She fell two points short of her career-high 36. The Sun starters combined for 75 points. Bria Hartley scored 11 points, and rookie Saniya Rivers contributed three steals and two blocks for Connecticut (2-6). Olivia Nelson-Ododa did not play in the second half due to an ankle injury.
Atlanta showed their offensive strengths with multiple players scoring in double figures, demonstrating their ability to distribute scoring opportunities across the team. However, their defense struggled to contain Connecticut, ultimately allowing them to score 84 points. This defensive lapse, coupled with a lack of consistent rebounding, contributed to their defeat.
