Colin Kaepernick Signs First-Look Deal With Disney

On Monday, Disney announced a partnership with Colin Kaepernick and his production Ra Vision Media. Both parties have agreed to tell more compelling stories about race, social injustice, and how change is occurring. Disney is allowing more black and brown directors and producers to showcase their talents on a big platform.

Disney’s executive chairman Bob Iger is very optimistic and excited about this deal.“During this unprecedented time, The Walt Disney Company remains committed to creating diverse and inclusive content that resonates and matters. Colin’s experience gives him a unique perspective on the intersection of sports, culture, and race, which will undoubtedly create compelling stories that will educate, enlighten and entertain, and we look forward to working with him on this important collaboration," said Iger.

Kaepernick's first project will be a docu-series about his journey as an activist. There will be exclusive footage, interviews, and in-depth documents on Kaepernick's stance on fighting a system of equality. “I am excited to announce this historic partnership with Disney across all of its platforms to elevate Black and Brown directors, creators, storytellers, and producers, and to inspire the youth with compelling and authentic perspectives. I look forward to sharing the docuseries on my life story, in addition to many other culturally impactful projects we are developing, said Kaepernick.

Long time journalist and former ESPN Anchor Jemele Hill will be working on Kaepernick's docu-series and she is thrilled to have the opportunity to work on the project. The first-look deal will extend across all Walt Disney Platforms including Walt Disney Television, ESPN, Hulu, Pixar, and The Undefeated.
