Chris Paul wins the Kobe and Gigi Bryant WNBA Advocacy Award during NBA All-Star Weekend
Since Kobe Bryant and Gigi Bryant living legacies was cut short in a fatal airplane incident in 2020, Chris Paul and others have stepped up with bringing more awareness to the WNBA. Paul have used his platform to highlight WNBA players accomplishments, as well as started different training camp for rising women in sports. Paul is known as a person who wants everyone to come together in unity and starts conversations that at times could be uncomfortable. Vanessa Bryant will give the award to Paul at the start of tonight's game.
“I have seen first-hand Chris’ appreciation of the WNBA and the game at every level for women and girls, especially in Phoenix and North Carolina, and his ardent support of our game strongly reflects the legacy of Kobe and Gigi,” said WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert. “The league is proud to name Chris as the inaugural recipient of the Kobe & Gigi Bryant WNBA Advocacy Award, as he serves as a leader and role model for other professional athletes around growing the future of the game for young girls and all fans.
