Chiefs Chairman & CEO update on GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium Renovations, and continued prayers for the tragic events from Super Bowl Parade

CEO Clark Hunt offered his deepest condolences and sympathy for every victim and their families affected by the tragedy that occurred at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Parade.  Mr. Clark offered a true gratitude to the first responders of Kansas City, medical professionals and those brave individuals that helped in the face of danger.  A major topic of conversation has been the news of the renovations on GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.  Clark Hunt discussed the enhancements and renderings planned for the entire renovation including upgrades to amenities, functionality, and surrounding footprint.

Entry and exit ways were discussed as well as the comfort of the concourses and bathrooms.  In addition to those upgrades, Mr. Hunt discussed the enhanced video boards and pregame tailgate experience plans for the fans. Chiefs President, Mark Donovan, stated, “It’s not only important that we do this given the age of the stadium, but it’s important that we do this right and we do this to honor the legacy of Lamar Hunt (Chiefs Founder) and also do it in spirit that continues this treasure that we have in our town that is a worldwide phenomenon and an iconic stadium in sports.” Mr. Donovan added that the Truman Sports Complex also will be upgraded as well.

A new turf activation zone will be built over the site of the current Kauffman Stadium.  There will be VIP entry points throughout the stadium to alleviate traffic for entry and exit points.  Ten suites will be added on both endzones, which will add another thousand-person club behind each end zone.  New LED boards, and completely upgraded Wi-Fi, Distributed antenna system, and audio systems will also get a complete upgrade as well.  When asked about the seating capacity, Mr. Donovan answered, “It will continue to be above 70,000.  We don’t have a final count, but one of the things that I’m personally very sensitive to from a design standpoint is making sure that Arrowhead remains one of the loudest stadiums in the National Football League. “
