With NFL training camp officially underway, Kansas City Chiefs President Mark Donovan addressed media in St. Joseph, Missouri, offering a comprehensive update on the franchise’s present momentum and long-term vision. "Championship seasons start in St. Joe,” Donovan opened, emphasizing the 15-year partnership with Missouri Western State University.

“It has been an amazing run… a big part of our success.”

The team’s commitment to fan experience was central to his remarks, praising the behind-the-scenes staff, local partners, and the fans who lined up at 2 a.m. to attend the first open practice.

Donovan proudly shared that the Chiefs now boast the largest fan base in the NFL, a remarkable feat for a mid-sized market.

“It’s something we’ve never accomplished before,” he said. “It’s a direct reflection of our fans’ passion and our team’s work over the last decade to go global.”

That global reach includes the upcoming Disney+ and ESPN docuseries “The Kingdom,” created in partnership with the producers of The Last Dance. The series will trace the 2023-24 season alongside the franchise’s legacy and founder Lamar Hunt’s impact on the NFL.

“It tells the story of this franchise in a way that’s never been done before,” Donovan shared.

Turning to the stadium situation, Donovan confirmed progress on both renovation and relocation options. With GEHA Field at Arrowhead secured through 2031, he stressed the organization’s methodical approach.

“This is the most impactful decision in the history of this organization,” he said, “and we’re going to get it right for the next generation of fans.”

Donovan also addressed temporary seat installations for the 2026 World Cup, confirming the project is on time and on budget. “It was important to Clark Hunt that every Season Ticket Member still sits in their seat,” he noted.

Ultimately, Donovan’s message was one of pride, gratitude, and responsibility.

“There’s never been a better time to be a Chiefs fan,” he said. “And we’re working every day to make sure that experience only gets better.”
