Angel Reese sets the tone in a win against the Sun

On Thursday night, Angel Reese scored 30 points on 11-of-14 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Atlanta Dream to a 103-59 victory over the Connecticut Sun in their first WNBA game following the FIBA World Cup break.

A key member of the winning U.S. team in Germany, Reese reached 30 points on a free throw with 5:38 left and grabbed her 10th rebound a few seconds later for her 30th double-double of the season, a WNBA record. While playing 25 minutes for the playoff-bound Dream, she fell one point short of her career high.

With 129 3-pointers, Rhyne Howard set a WNBA season record. With 6:45 left in the fourth, she made her only 3-pointer of the game - in nine attempts - to break Sabrina Ionescu's record set in 2023.

Howard finished with 10 points. For Atlanta (27-14), Allisha Gray added 10 points to break her own franchise record of 782 points in a season.

Olivia Nelson-Ododa led Connecticut (10-31) with 13 points — all in the first half. Connecticut was outscored 31-11 in the third and 27-13 in the fourth.

This dominant victory solidified Atlanta's position as a formidable contender in the league and demonstrated their strength coming off the international break.
