Wizards couldn't complete the second half comeback against the Heat 121-114

The Washington Wizards took their show on the road for their first ever in-season tournament game, which was against their division rivals, the Miami Heat. The Wizards two young, promising stars, Kyle Kuzma and Jordan Poole, started the game scorching hot as they both hit multiple three-pointers in the first quarter and helped the Wizards go into the second quarter tied up 34-34. In the second quarter, the depth of Miami’s roster started to show as they had contributions from everyone in the rotation, and that helped them go into the half with a six-point advantage.

The third quarter was the worst period for Washington, as they fell behind by 20. None of the Wizards starters had double-digit rebounds or assists. Washington shot poorly from the free throw line, as they shot an awful 52.9 percent, while Miami shot 85 percent from the line. At the start of the fourth quarter, the Wizards started cutting down the Miami lead with great production off their benches, as both teams finished with 48 points from their benches. Thanks to the help of the Wizards bench, they went on a run and chopped the lead down to ten with four minutes remaining. Later in the fourth, Miami’s guard Tyler Herro hit back-to-back shots that basically sealed the fate of the Wizards. The next game for the Wizards will be on Monday as they travel to Philadelphia to face the 76ers, but their next in-season tournament game will be against the Charlotte Hornets at home. This Wizards team will be looking to win games and try to prepare for their bright futures as they hold plenty of draft picks.
