What’s in store for UFC in 2023

UFC had a great year of fights in 2022, and we should expect more in 2023. The fans get great fights every year from the UFC, and in 2023 you should expect more of the same with some expected returns from the sport's two biggest stars. Here is what is next for the UFC in 2023, or at least what can be expected.

Fans can expect a title rematch between Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman, in what should be a huge event due to the upset loss Usman suffered to Edwards. This event may be on hold for a few months due to a hand injury that the Nigerian Nightmare Usman is dealing with. We will also be in store for a fourth fight between Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo. That is another exciting fight between two guys who match up evenly, and that has been proven in their last 3 fights as it’s been hard to pick a winner outside of the Rear Naked Choke Moreno finished him with back at UFC 263. That fight is already scheduled to kick off the year in Brazil. There will be more questions answered in every division next year, in 2023.

There are some expected returns in 2023, as it has been rumored Henry Cejudo will be fighting Aljamain Sterling for the bantamweight title in the first quarter of next year. Also, Jon Jones has been awaiting his highly anticipated debut at heavyweight, and it’s looking like sometime next year we will see him regardless of whether it’s for a belt or not. There are a lot of names he can fight at heavyweight. While he was waiting for Frances, it appears he's done waiting and he’s ready to get back in the Octagon. Another return that may or may not happen but seems likely is Conor Mcgregor. It appears he’s destined to fight Michael Chandler in his return. McGregor has a lot of problems with fighters, including unfinished business with Dustin Poirier. The UFC has liked the idea of Chandler and The Notorious being locked inside a cage because it would be a stand-up scrap that the fans will remember for a long time.

All in all, no matter what happens, the UFC is going to move on and book great fights with or without the guys I mentioned returning to the octagon. Their names and their potential comebacks just make it that much more exciting to think about.
