Controversial quarterback Aaron Rodgers is no stranger to questions about his long-term plans for his career. He has been playing in the NFL since 2005 after being drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the first round of the draft. The pinnacle of his career was in leading them to a Super Bowl victory in 2011 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Rodgers is widely recognized as one of the all-time greatest quarterbacks in the NFL, but recent years do not reflect this quality of player. After his relationship broke down with Green Bay, Rodgers was traded to the New York Jets in 2023, but his season was abruptly ended by a torn Achilles in game 1 of the season. His second season there went 2-8 in the first 10 games, and they were eliminated from the playoffs by week 14.

Publicly, Rodgers has not been scared to highlight his feelings about his tenure at the Jets and in 2025 he finally agreed a 1-year deal at the Pittsburgh Steelers. The deal took several months to complete but Rodgers finally inked the contract this month.

Weeks after penning his Steelers contract, Rodgers has today appeared on The Pat McAfee show to announce that this will be his last season. “I’m pretty sure this Is it,” 4-time MVP Rodgers stated, “that’s why we just did a one-year deal.” When speaking of the Steelers as his final professional team, he said “This is really about finishing with a lot of love and peace for the career that I’ve had.”

Rodgers’ name will go down in history as one of the quarterbacks everyone remembers. His legacy at the Packers is one that fans will never forget and as he heads into his final season, he has said there is no better way to end a 20-year career than at “one of the cornerstone franchises of the NFL.”
