The NBA regular season is on the verge of concluding and the Clippers are struggling to build momentum heading into the playoffs or play in. After a loss to Portland, the Clippers hold a half game lead for that eighth seed.
Since Kawhi Leonard went down with a leg injury a couple weeks ago, the Clippers have not been the same. In this game against Portland, Los Angeles started slow and had to dig themselves out of hold to attempt to make a comeback. Leonard did all he could do to get his team back in competitive nature in the second half. He took over the court and forced Portland to double at times. While he was getting doubled, it opened Daruis Garland and John Collins, who combined for 37 points. The Clippers cut the lead down to single digits with six minutes left in regulation. However, Portland went on a 10-4 run to close out the game.
After the game, Collins talked to members of media about sticking together during a rough patch of inconsistent play. “It’s not something that we’re trying to do or not do,” forward John Collins said. “It’s just a game of basketball, ups and downs. It’s about staying together and understanding we still have time to fix it, make it right, but it’s on us and how we handle our business going forward.”
