The Chicago Sky wins their first WNBA Championship

Chicago- The Sky defeats the Mercury in Game 80-74.

With Queen Candace Parker and Queen Kahleah Copper getting it done time in and time out during the season, they paved themselves and their teammates for this moment. They were only one game away from bringing the Chicago Sky their first championship to the franchise, but they needed to take care of business against the Mercury in Game 4 of the WNBA Finals.

Early on, Chicago looked very nervous and missed a couple of lay-up, but the veteran in Parker calmed her team down. They went on a 12-6 run to go up six in the first. However, Chicago allowed Brittney Griner to be a factor and Griner helped her team regain a two point lead at the end of the first.

In the second quarter, it was Allie Quigley time. Quigley hit a couple of threes on the offensive end and played her butt off on the defensive side of the ball. She forced Diana Taurausi to take ill-advised shots and smothered her..Mid-way in the quarter, the Sky turned their offense on and got six fastbreak points off Mercury turning the ball over. Despite having an early lead, the Sky allowed Phoenix to close out the half on a 9-0 run. The Sky was darkened as they went into the locker room down 44-37.

After cutting the Mercury's lead to six early in the third, Taurasi started to heat up in quarter. From hitting threes to setting up her teammates for wide-open shots, the Sky was back-peddling trying to figure a way to stop BG and DT. Parker tried to will her team back i the game. She scored seven straight points to cut Phoenix to a seven point lead late in the third. Sloppy play with .45 seconds left in the third, helped the Mercury extend their lead to nine-points.

Here comes Quigley in the fourth. She hit two consecutive three point shots to make the game reachable for the Sky. Things got chippy in the last three minutes of the game. Skylar Diggins Smith drew two fouls on the Sky. Physical play started happening and both coaches were upset that the refs were not calling fouls and letting them play.

Parker hit a game tying shot to tie up the game with 1;31 left in the game. The Sky went up four, but DT was fouled attempting a three point shot. She hit 2 out of 3 to cut the Sky's lead to two. Chicago hit a jumper to extend their lead to four and walked out the gym in a celebration.
