Tampa Bay Lightning are crowned the 2020 Stanley Cup Champions
Tampa Bay- The Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Dallas Stars in Game 6, 2-0 to be crowned the 2020 Stanley Cup Champions.
All season long, the Lightning had many obstacles that they overcame and finally for the second time in franchise history, Tampa Bay is bringing the Stanley Cup back to its city. Andrei Vasilevskiy was a stud throughout the series and a key factor with helping Tampa pull out a win in Game 6. Vasilevsky had 22 saves in Game 6, which marks his first career shutout. On the offensive side, Tampa Bay scored goals by Blake Coleman and Bayden Point, which put the game out of reach for the Stars.
Victor Hedman was honored with the Conn Smythe Trophy, as well as playoff MVP. Hedman was very excited for the win and the honor, but wanted the fans to hear this. “That last period was probably the longest period of my life," Hedman said. "I’m at a loss for words. You obviously wish your family and fans could be here, but we felt the support from back home.”
