The South Carolina Gamecocks defeated TCU 78-52

South Carolina struggled to get into rhythm early on as TCU went up eight. It looked like TCU was brewing an upset, but Raven Johnson and Agot Makeer got their team back on track with prolific scoring. The young freshman in Makeer, did not shy away from the big moment and had herself one heck of a game. She finished with 18 points.

The Gamecocks blew the lead open in the third quarter. TCU had no answer for Joyce Edwards as she was getting to the elbow and block with ease. Edwards finished with a team high 24 points.

After cutting down the nets, Dawn Staley as well as her team knew that they have to bring in in a Finals rematch against UCONN. You got to keep the game close. You got to be able to score. Obviously, we probably aren’t going to keep them from 25 points under their average. I think you just got to to pound for pound and be undefeated of playing against an undefeated team. I think the pressures of being undefeated, if you keep them close — uh, you might, I doubt it but you might get them on a bad night. And we’re hoping Friday is a bad night for them.”

Get your popcorn ready, as both teams look to earn a spot in the Championship game and will either face UCLA or Texas.
