On Saturday Claressa Shields and Lani Daniels went toe to toe with pride and championship belts on the line. Prior to the fight, there were a lot of speculation that Laila Ali was going to potentially come out of retirement to fight Shields, if both teams could make a deal that both parties liked. Now, let's get back to the fight. Shields was the favorite to win, and a lot of people had her knocking out Daniels by the sixth round. The first few rounds, Shields was playing cat and mouse with Daniels. Daniels was moving left and round and hitting Shields with a few jabs. You could see Shields getting frustrated but had a few shots in the second round that had Daniels a bit woozy.

Shields starting to become the aggressor and used her jab to open Daniels a bit. I guess Shield's corner told her to go to the body of Daniels, because that is what she did. Those body shots was a telling story, because Daniels looked tired and each body shot looked like it was hurting her. Shields finished the fight on top and retained her belts.
