Peyton Manning executive produces the three-part series examining stock car racing’s roots, family ties and place in American culture

“NASCAR Americana,” a three-part documentary series exploring the history and cultural influence of stock car racing, will premiere Aug. 9 on USA Network.

Inspired by the nation’s 250th anniversary, the limited series traces NASCAR’s evolution from a regional Southern pastime into a national sports institution. The premiere will air at 7 p.m. ET following USA Network’s coverage of the NASCAR Cup Series Iowa Corn 350 at Iowa Speedway.

Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning serves as an executive producer through Omaha Productions. Emmy-winning filmmaker Max Gershberg, whose credits include “Miracle: The Boys of ’80,” directed the series.

The opening episode, “Rebel Roots,” examines NASCAR’s beginnings, including the role of moonshiners in the development of early stock car racing, the sport’s founding in 1948 and the rise of the Daytona 500 as a major American sporting tradition. The episode also revisits the 1979 Daytona 500, a race widely credited with helping introduce NASCAR to a national audience and follows third-generation driver Ryan Blaney as he prepares for the 2026 event.

The second installment, “Family Bonds,” will air Aug. 15 following the Cookout 400 at Richmond Raceway. It explores the multigenerational relationships among NASCAR drivers, teams and fans, from local dirt tracks to the sport’s premier series.

The episode includes the first formal sit-down interview with NASCAR Hall of Fame driver Kurt Busch since the death of his younger brother, Kyle Busch, in May, according to the announcement. Kyle Busch was the winningest driver across NASCAR’s three national series. The program follows the racing community as it honors him during the 2026 Coca-Cola 600.

The final episode, “Enduring Spirit,” airs Aug. 23 after the Dollar Tree 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. It examines the balance between NASCAR’s long-standing traditions and its continued evolution as a national sport.

That episode features Daytona 500 champion Tyler Reddick and three-time Cup Series race winner Bubba Wallace at the 2026 Anduril 250, billed as the first NASCAR race held at a U.S. naval base.

Other figures appearing in the series include four-time Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon, country music performer and NASCAR team co-owner Darius Rucker, actor and stock car driver Frankie Muniz, and Manning.

“NASCAR Americana” is produced by Full Speed Entertainment, a partnership between NASCAR Studios and Words + Pictures. The latter studio was founded by producers behind “The Last Dance” and the Academy Award-winning documentary “O.J.: Made in America.” Omaha Productions also produced the series.

The premiere coincides with the beginning of USA Sports’ 2026 NASCAR schedule, which includes 10 races airing live on USA Network.
