On Sunday afternoon, LSU women's basketball upset No. 2 Texas giving them their first loss of the season with a 70-65 win inside the PMAC.
The game was tied at 11 after the first quarter due to a low scoring quarter. The Tigers struggled to score on their first 12 shots, shooting just 2/12.
However, LSU found life in the second quarter. During the second ten minutes, MiKaylah Williams found a rhythm and LSU outscored Texas 19-14. In the final seconds of the half, Jada Richard hit a floater as time expired, giving LSU a five-point lead.
Early in the third, the Tigers continued to roll. The second half began with a 9-4 run that forced a timeout for Texas. That didn't stop LSU's momentum. LSU kept scoring and led 46-34 with 2:30 left in the third. Texas eventually went on a 13-3 run and cut LSUs led to three. However, LSU settled back down and stopped the run.
With under two minutes left, LSU led by four. MiKaylah Williams provided LSU with important insurance by sinking a three-point shot to give them a seven-point lead. With that shot, LSU was able to close the deal and win the game.
