Once again, the Laker's flaws shows up and cost them a game they had in the bag. At one point in time, LA had a 16-point lead against Chicago, but once again the Lakers had trouble stopping Coby White from being effective and scoring at will. With under a minute left in regulation, LeBron James left a wide-open shooter to knock down a three, to cut the Lakers lead to one. On the ensuing possession the Lakers had trouble securing an inbound pass. Josh Giddey took the Lakers' cookies and passed to a wide-open shooter to take the lead. The Lakers scored with .20 ticks left. Now, the basketball Gods gave everyone something special to see. Down by one, Giddy hit a tough logo three to send the Lakers package with their lunch.
Despite Austin Reaves 30 points, the Lakers' defense failed to secure a game in which they had won on paper.
