This was LSU's fifth straight SEC win (19-2, 5-2) after early losses to Kentucky and Vanderbilt.
MiLaysia Fulwiley had 15 points, Amiya Joiner added 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Mikaylah Williams scored 12 as LSU started a three-game SEC homestand.
Florida (13-9, 1-6), led by Liv McGill's 14 points and eight rebounds, challenged LSU early.
The Tigers led 22-19 after the first quarter but struggled during an eight-minute stretch, missing 10 of 13 shots.
Florida, with physical play and five turnovers forced in under three minutes, stayed close until Laila Reynolds gave them a 27-26 lead with 5:36 left in the first half.
LSU responded with a 10-2 run to lead 36-29 at halftime, helped by Williams' two assists and a driving jumper to end the period. In the third quarter, Richard scored 12 of LSU's 27 points, building a 63-45 lead with 11 points off six Florida turnovers.
Fulwiley took over in the fourth quarter with 11 points, two rebounds, and two blocks, including chasing down McGill to block her fast-break layup attempt.
