Jackie Young ties WNBA record in a win against the Storm

In their first game after the FIBA World Cup break, the Las Vegas Aces defeated the Seattle Storm 114-77 on Thursday night as Jackie Young tied the WNBA record for points in a quarter with 22 in the first quarter.

As of now, the Aces (28-13) are 1 1/2 games behind second-place Golden State, and a game ahead of Atlanta in the standings. As a result, the top four teams will have home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs, which is a best-of-three matchup.

For the Aces, A'ja Wilson scored 29 points. This was the highest scoring game for Las Vegas since it set the franchise record against Atlanta on July 4, 2021, scoring 118-95.

Young tied Jewell Loyd, Brittney Sykes, and Diana Taurasi for the quarter mark. Young made 8 of 9 field goals, 3 of 4 3-pointers, and 3 of 3 free throws.

Natisha Hiedeman added 12 points and seven assists to Flau'jae Johnson's 25 points for Seattle. Dominique Malonga scored 10 points and Stefanie Dolson 11 points.
