Georgia's defense causes havoc in the second half to pull out the victory over Tennessee 44-21

Atlanta- Georgia's defense caused three turnovers in the second half to help their team get the victory over the Tennessee Volunteers.



Throughout the entire week, the Bulldogs stated that turnovers was something that they did not want to give the Tennessee Volunteers. On Georgia's first drive, the Bulldogs mishandled a bad snap that went into the endzone. The Volunteers recovered the ball and scored a defensive touchdown to go up early 7-0 over Georgia. The Bulldogs scored their first touchdown with a one-yard touchdown run by Zamir White to tie the game 7-7. Stetson Bennett IV called his own number early in the second quarter for an eight yard touchdown scamper to put Georgia up 14-7.


The Bulldogs allowed the Volunteers to score a touchdown to tie the game back, 14-14. Tennessee scored another touchdown late in the second quarter to go up 21-14 over the Bulldogs. Georgia tacked on a field goal with under a three minutes left in the first half to cut the Volunteers' lead to four, 21-17. With .5 seconds left in the first half and a fourth and goal, Georgia elected to go for it instead of kicking the field goal. The Volunteers' defense stuffed White and went into the half with a four point lead.


Georgia's defense came up big on Tennessee' opening drive in the second half. The defense caused a fumble and recovered it. After a quick three and out, Georgia kicked a field goal to cut Tennessee's lead to one, 2120. The Volunteers turned the ball over on the next drive, as Georgia intercepted Jarrett Guarantano. Four plays later, the Bulldogs tacked on another field goal to go up 23-21 over Tennessee. Bennett threw a 20 yard touchdown strike to a wide open Kearis Jackson in the middle of the field to extend the lead, 30-21.


Georgia was not done running up the score against the Volunteers. Bennett threw a one-yard touchdown to Darnell Washington to take a demanding 37-21. On the next possession, the Bulldogs' defense caused another a fumble, which was returned for a score, 44-21. The Bulldogs finish off Tennessee and will face Alabama next week.
