Despite a slow start, the Bucs' offense heats up in the second half against the Giants 25-23
Tampa Bay- Buccaneers' offense came to life in the second half, as Tampa Bay defeats the New York Giants 25-23
The Bucs scored on their opening drive against the New York Giants with a 37-yard field goal by Ryan Succop to go up 3-0. Tampa Bay turned the ball over midway in the first, as Ronald Jones fumbled the ball at the Bucs' 15-yard line. New York took advantage of the Bucs' turnover and scored a touchdown to take the lead, 7-3.
Tampa Bay's offense stalled in the second quarter, as Tom Brady was getting hit and hurried by the Giants. The Buc's offensive line did not have an answer to stop the inside blitz that New York was throwing at them.
Tampa Bay's defense allowed the Giants to score their second touchdown of the night with under two minutes left in the half. On the ensuing possession, Brady drove his team down the field and got his them in position to kick a field goal. Succop connected on the field goal, as time expired in the half to cut the Giants' lead to one possession, 14-6.
Tampa's defense came up huge at the start of the third quarter. Carlton Davis picked off Daniel Jones, which put the Bucs in great field position. Bruce Arians got a little gutsy on a fourth and short. Brady converted the down. Three plays later, the Bucs had to settle for Succop's third field goal attempt of the night. Succop nailed the 41- yard field goal which made it a 14-9 game.
Late into the third quarter, Brady started to get back into his rhythm and hit Rob Gronkowski for the Bucs first touchdown to take back the lead, 15-14. With under nine minutes left in regulation, Brady threw his second touchdown pass to Mike Evans to extend the Bucs' lead, 22-17. Tampa kicked a field goal midway in the fourth to make it a 25-17. With .29 seconds left in regulation, the Bucs secondary had a huge break down in coverage. Golden Tate was running free in the endzone and Jones hit him for the score. The Giants had to go for the two point conversion to tie up the game, but failed on the attempt. The Bucs escaped with a 25-23 victory and continue their winning streak.
Brady finished the game with 279 yards with 2 touchdowns.
