Clippers survive a thriller against Portland, 122-117

Orlando- The Los Angeles Clippers escape a late comeback by the Portland Trailblazers 122-117.

Paul Geoge and Reggie Jackson attempted to put the Clippers on their backs, while Kawhi Leonard sat out for the night against the Trailblazers. Both players caused havoc for Portland with their outside shooting, as well as the attention that they had on the floor. Portland attempted to put a double team on Jackson or George when they had the ball in their hands, but that led to wide-up shots for other players that were on the floor. The game for the most part was very close, as both teams were shooting around 51% for the game. The three-point shot was working for the Clippers, as they shot around 44%.

With under three minutes left in regulation and the Clippers down by five, the Clippers made a huge mistake with being too aggressive driving to the hole, which led to Damian Lillard taking a charge. Portland went down on the next possession and scored a layup. However, the Clippers hit a couple of threes late into the game to take the lead. With 18.6 seconds in the game, Lillard was fouled but missed a free throw that could have tied the game. The Clippers went up three after Portland was forced to foul. With 10 seconds left in the game, down by three, Lillard decided to call his own number and take a three-point shot. The shot only brazed the rim and the Clippers went on to win 122-117.

George finished the game with 21 points, 4 assists, and 6 rebounds. Reggie Jackson finished with 17 points, 5 assists, and 2 rebounds. Landry Shamet finished with 19 points, 3 assists, and 3 rebounds.
