Clippers did not show up in home opener against the Suns
Los Angeles- Despite Marcus Morris Sr. scoring 22 points and PG 13 scoring 16, the Clippers dropped their home opener to Phoenix 112-95.
Maybe it was fatigue, but the Clippers in general looked a little sluggish against Phoenix. They turned the ball over 14 times, didn't really have many contributions outside of their big three, and could not stop Devin Booker from catching fire. Booker was on fire and finished with 35 points in 35 minutes.
Clippers HC Tyronn Luere had this to say about the effort that he saw in last night's game. "I think we didn’t match their physicality early on. Their pace, which they play with. You can’t start games like that especially when we want to start with a defensive mindset. So, to get down 12-0 on your home floor that was tough. No excuses with a back-to-back but you know everybody plays back-to-backs. We just have to be better and start games. I have to do a better job offensively making sure they understand what we want what we’re trying to do. Right now, Phoenix is a better team than we are. We’ll be better though.
Even though they lost on their home floor, they had some bright spots. They have some young guns on their bench that can catch fire at any given time, but they have to play defense as well. Prior to the opener, the Clippers have shown up defensively with their first and second unit. The talent is there, but they have to stay consistent with their effort on both sides of the floor.
