The Las Vegas Aces beat the Los Angeles Sparks 105-78 on Sunday in the season opener for the Sparks, as Chennedy Carter scored 22 points and Jackie Young had 20 points and nine assists.

A'ja Wilson scored 19 points and grabbed four rebounds for Las Vegas. With 2,502 career rebounds in 269 games, Wilson is tied with Lisa Leslie for third fastest in WNBA history. Tina Charles reached this milestone in 248 games. In this game, Chelsea Gray scored 16 points while NaLyssa Smith scored 12.

Against Los Angeles, the Aces shot 62% (43 of 69) from the field — the second-best mark in franchise history.

During the final three and a half minutes of the first quarter, Las Vegas scored 14 points to take a 29-14 lead into the second quarter. The Sparks were 0-for-6 shooting and committed three turnovers during that span.

This was a bounce back game for Las Vegas as they took a hard loss 99-66 to Phoenix in their season opener on Saturday.

It was a hard-fought game in the first half with the score being 42-41 at halftime. However, the Aces opened the third quarter with a 12-4 spurt and outscored LA 33-18 in the period. Carter's layup with 4:21 left made it 61-51 and Las Vegas led by double figures the rest of the way.

Kelsey Plum led the Sparks with 27 points. The Sparks welcomed back Nneka Ogwumike after two seasons with Seattle after spending 12 seasons with Los Angeles. She had 19 points and 10 rebounds.
