NEW YORK — The WNBA has announced a new multi-year partnership with Amazon Web Services aimed at transforming the fan experience through artificial intelligence, advanced analytics and cloud technology as the league enters its landmark 30th season.

Under the agreement, AWS becomes the Official Cloud and Cloud AI Partner of the WNBA while also joining the league’s influential Changemakers Collective. The collaboration marks the first partnership between AWS and a women’s professional sports league and further expands the technology company’s growing footprint across the sports industry.

At the center of the partnership is the launch of “WNBA Inside the Game powered by AWS,” a new advanced statistics platform designed to give fans deeper insight into every possession, player movement and game-changing moment. The platform will use AWS cloud computing and AI technology to convert real-time player tracking data into accessible analytics for viewers across the WNBA App, WNBA.com and live game broadcasts.

Among the new features set to debut this season are AI-powered metrics including “WNBA Gravity,” which measures how players influence defenses with and without the basketball, and “WNBA Shot Difficulty,” designed to evaluate the true complexity of shot attempts.

“We view this partnership as integral to the next phase of growth for the WNBA,” said Colie Edison. “From unlocking deeper insights to creating more immersive fan experiences and driving innovation, we are excited to welcome AWS as a partner and Changemaker and look forward to building the future of women’s basketball together.”

AWS executives said the collaboration reflects a long-term investment in the growth and visibility of women’s basketball. "As the WNBA enters its 30th season, we're proud to join as both an innovation partner and a Changemaker, committed to using AWS's cloud and AI capabilities to elevate the fan experience and support the continued growth of women's basketball,” said Kristin Shaff. “Through WNBA Inside the Game, we're bringing AI-powered analytics to the women's game, giving fans new ways to appreciate the skill and strategy WNBA players bring to the court every game.”

The partnership will also extend to major league events, with AWS serving as the presenting partner of WNBA Live during AT&T WNBA All-Star 2026 in Chicago. The fan festival is scheduled for July 24-25 at McCormick Place and will feature player appearances, entertainment performances and interactive experiences celebrating the league’s growing cultural influence.

AWS also joins the WNBA Changemakers Collective alongside companies including Ally, AT&T, CarMax, Deloitte, Google and Nike in a collective effort to accelerate innovation, visibility and long-term business growth across women’s sports.

The agreement signals another major step in the WNBA’s ongoing expansion as the league continues to capitalize on rising attendance, television viewership and global interest in women’s basketball.
